<image:title>Services - Depth Psychology</image:title>
<image:caption>The modern field of Depth Psychology originated in the work of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, two visionaries who called attention to the importance of what lies below the surface of conscious awareness. This dimension of psychic reality is revealed in literature, the expressive arts of different cultures, dreams, and in the collective symptoms suffered by individuals and societies. Concepts at the core of depth psychology are central to Pacifica's degree programs. Ideas such as the importance of image, metaphor, and psyche in personal and cultural expression, and the interplay between the aesthetics of the natural world and the human experience, are deeply ingrained the Institute's curricula.</image:caption>

<image:title>Families in Need</image:title>
<image:caption>R-A-B is an acronym for Raha, Amani, Baraka, which are Swahili words meaning Happiness, Peace, & Blessing. I founded R-A-B in Afric in 2005, in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization was formed with an aim targeting young people who are bearing the brunt of HIV in Kenyan slums, and providing education for them on importance of hygiene. At the same time, I began educating myself on FGM (female genital mutilation), which was occurring in many villages across Kenya. I then began rescuing and supporting young girls in villages outside of Nairobi, who declined to undergo FGM. Many of the girls who are not able to runaway, either bleed to death, or contract various diseases due to unsanitized metals used to mutilate the girls. Housing, schooling, and proper care have been provided for these girls, to assist them at a chance of a new life with freedom and opportunity.</image:caption>

<image:title>Families in Need</image:title>
<image:caption>October of 2019, the Women’s Organization in Paris, informed me of a young girl battling cancer. She was in urgent need to leave Turkey for a better medical care. With the help of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), I assisted in sending her and her family to Toronto, for her immediate cancer treatment. Unfortunately, it was too late upon her arrival, and we lost a true angel. Nevertheless, her family was given residency in Canada, a chance at a better life, and future. Delaram will never be forgotten, and truly missed.</image:caption>
