I founded R-A-B in Afric in 2005, in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization was formed with an aim targeting young people who are bearing the brunt of HIV in Kenyan slums, and providing education for them on importance of hygiene. At the same time, I began educating myself on FGM (female genital mutilation), which was occurring in many villages across Kenya. I then began rescuing and supporting young girls in villages outside of Nairobi, who declined to undergo FGM. Many of the girls who are not able to runaway, either bleed to death, or contract various diseases due to unsanitized metals used to mutilate the girls. She was in urgent need to leave Turkey for a better medical care. With the help of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), I assisted in sending her and her family to Toronto, for her immediate cancer treatment. Unfortunately, it was too late upon her arrival, and we lost a true angel. Nevertheless, her family was given residency in Canada, a chance at a better life, and future.
